Guido holds a BA in economics from the Libera Università Internazionale degli Studi Sociali (Rome, Italy), an MA in economics and a PhD in political economy from the University of Southern California (Los Angeles, USA), and an Mphil in Criminology from Cambridge University (UK). He taught political economy, sociology, economics, and criminology at University in the United States, Canada, and the Vatican. In 2005 he was a Fulbright Scholar for International Relations to the Middle East.

He is the author of several essays and books, including the seminal Conjuring Hitler: How Britain and America Made the Third Reich and Destroyed Europe (2005, 2023), The Ideology of Tyranny, the Use of Neo-Gnostic Myth in American Politics (2007, 2011), Phantasmagoria, and The Spectacle of 9/11 and the War on Terror (2023).

In the year 2000, I traveled with my whole family, which now included my wife Diane and our two lovely boys and a little touring theater back to Denmark, which I found in a very different state to the country I had left as a very young person – a bureaucratized, digitized country where the distance between people had become much greater and in the Corona era created its very own concept: “together in isolation”.

We live today in a world that needs a social structure that can create space for human life and development, that can handle freedom, accept equality and rejoice in brotherhood.

As a young man, it gradually became clear to me that biodynamic agriculture was a part of myself and what was to be my life’s work. I started working on various biodynamic farms, including a farm in southern Germany and participated in an agricultural and science study year at the Goetheanum in Switzerland, which is the world center for Antrhoposophy

After an agricultural study year, I founded a family where my then wife Ulla and I decided to partner with my parents for the running of Steffenskilde Farm,, which we took over entirely after the course of a few years.

Here began my life as an independent biodynamic farmer on 42 hectars of land and with 40 dairy cows. This largely formed the framework for myself and my family’s life over the next 20 years. I look back with pleasure on the years when I tried out new ideas as a start-up, on the experiences with the animals and plants and people, with my children as they grew up and much more.

In the time from when I started as a young farmer until now, there has been a massive almost violent “development” towards ever larger scale farms, tpgetjer with the shutting down and amalgamation of all the many smaller family farms that used to make up Danish agriculture.

The demand for increased efficiency has been the driving force; agriculture “must be able to support itself” and this has pushed agriculture into specialization and industrialization, lead on by an equally violent technical development.

Shouldn’t the criterion for growing food for animals and humans be about the highest possible quality of the produce, rather than the greatest possible income and capital gains?

Many of us think that it should, and that is why biodynamic agriculture has already existed for the last 100 years – and organic agriculture for 30-40 years. But even though it has now become possible for consumers everywhere to buy organic and in some places biodynamic food, the struggle has not been won yet.

The “forces” that have forcefully pushed the “development” in agriculture in the modern day direction do not want people to get food of the highest possible quality, they instead think differently about people’s food (industrially produced food) and have crafted plans for humanity as a whole, which many of us do not want to be a part of.

It is important to make this clear and to start thinking together with others about how we can create living conditions for farmers working on living farms that will ensure healthy food for people in the future.
